The 1991 Constitution, in Article 20 enshrined as a fundamental right to freedom of opinion, news and information, and expanded its legal standpoint to ensure that everyone has the right to receive truthful and impartial.
The right to information is essential for democracy, promotes the exchange of ideas, allows the formation of a free public opinion, is the basis for the exercise of political rights of participation and control exercised against the authorities.
Society members also have the right to truth, to inform public authorities, information professionals to develop the role to inform, investigate and disseminate, in which the information is complete, objective and allowing genuine participation.
